This full day tour takes you to all the most famous and popular parts of the Sacred Valley. This is a fully guided tour with an English (or Spanish) speaking guide who will provide detailed explanations of the surrounding towns and sights in the Sacred Valley.
The area of the valley between Pisac and Ollantaytambo is known as the Sacred Valley of the Incas. On this tour we will drive through the mountains to the “Sacred Valley of the Incas” – which held great significance in Inca Culture. The Valley has a milder climate than Cusco and we will see a succession of picturesque villages, agricultural terraces, and many archaeological sites.
This tour is the “Traditional” or Classic tour, that is designed to see all of the Sacred Valley in one, action packed, whirlwind day! If you have more time, we recommend an overnight stay in the Sacred Valley (we recommend either Ollantaytambo or Urubamba) and being able to soak up some of the relaxed atmosphere.
Duration: full day
Group Size: Max 12 people
Private Group: 1 to +
- Pisac & Ruins.
You will be picked up in Pachamama Treks at approximately 8:00am and, after picking up any additional people in your group, you will begin the 40 minute drive to the town of Pisac in the Sacred Valley
Located in the colonial area of Pisac is this famous and vibrant market. Take in the sights and sounds of this unqiue experience, and don’t forget to stock up on affordable souvenirs for friends and family! You will have approximately 45 minutes to visit the market, so make sure you bring some extra cash to get the perfect gift.
Buffet Lunch In Urubamba (Optional)
S/35 Or US$14 Additional If Paid For At Pachamama Treks Desk
After finishing in Pisac your group will begin the journey through the Sacred Valley, the next stop being for lunch in the town of Urubamba. Make sure you reserve this ahead of time to get the lower Pachamama Treks. If you choose to not reserve the buffet lunch it is recommended you bring a box lunch along with you as the bus will not bring you to another restaurant. The buffet is highly recommended, offering a great taste of the local Peruvian cuisine with over 20 different dishes and desserts!
Ollantaytambo Archaeological Site
After lunch the journey continues along the valley to the town and ruins of Ollantaytambo. Founded by the Inca Ollanta on the banks of the Urubamba River, Ollantaytambo is a fort built into the mountain with Andean terraces and also a traditional town. At the top of the ruins we find the Sun Temple, constructed of large blocks that have remained intact for centuries in spite of the effects of time and weather.
*It is possible to end your tour here and stay in Ollantaytambo. This works well to then take the train directly to Aguas Calientes and spend the night there, visiting Machu Picchu the following day! (ask us about our “Sacred Machu Picchu” 2 day by train to Machu Picchu tour!)
Chinchero Excursion (Optional Depending On Time)
Heading on from Ollantaytambo the bus will return via Urubamba and then head up and out of the valley to the highlands, above where you will make a final stop in the town of Chinchero. Chinchero is famous for its church with painted murals and its traditional market, famous for their handmade textiles and weavings. After visiting the church and market you will return to Cusco, arriving at approximately 7:00pm
*Note – A Tourist Ticket is needed to enter ruins of Ollantaytambo (if you want to visit them)
In addition to the tour price, you must purchase a tourist ticket. A full tourist ticket costs s/130 or s/70 for students with a valid ISIC card. The full tourist ticket is valid for 10 days and allows entry to the majority of the Inca sites around Cusco and the Sacred Valley. This is a better option if you plan on also combining the city tour, or visiting any of the archeological sites outside the Sacred Valley in Cusco. An alternative option is to buy a partial tourist ticket which is s/70. This is valid for 1 day and will allow entry to all of the sites on the Sacred Valley Tour.
